This week our guests discuss infrastructure and labour relations.
If you’ve been travelling this week, you’ve probably wondered why a little snow, sleet or ice can cause mass disruption to mass transit. This week we put that question to some of the executives responsible for our planes and railways. We also find out more about big projects like Terminal 5 and the Channel Tunnel Rail Link. Conventional wisdom has it that we lag behind Europe when it comes to getting big projects done on time and on budget. But is that really the case?

We’ll also be talking about labour relations. Days lost to strike action are at an all-time low and the power of unions is waning – but in some industries, organised labour is still a force to be reckoned with. Our panellists this week have ample experience dealing with unions, and they tell us about their strategies when it comes to negotiations.

Our guests this week:

John Armitt
Chief executive, Network Rail

Keith Clarke,
Chief executive, Atkins

Willie Walsh
Chief executive, British Airways
