Baghdad to the Dales: Saad & Hind in their Yorkshire Post Office
Saad & Hind

Bagdad to the Dales

Listen to the item

Saad Ali and Hind Hussein were born and grew up in Baghdad. But in 1999 they decided to leave to live with Saad's sister - in Harrogate. Seven years on they've moved from Harrogate and settled in the Dales village of Darley.

From Baghdad to Darley is a journey involving a lot more than mere distance but Saad and Hind are thriving. Their son has been joined by a new sister and the family has become a vital part of the Darley community - not least because they've re-opened the village's much-loved and much-missed post office and local shop.

Ray Kershaw went to meet them.
