Hats

Listen to the item

John had many qualities but being well-turned out wasn't one of them.

This didn't stop him, though, from being fascinated by Howard Sledmere. Howard had written a tract on the importance of hats and where there's a tract there's an attraction.

It's fair to say Howard was, and probably still is, very keen indeed on hats. Howard began by telling John when he noticed that hat standards, as opposed to hat stands, were not what they used to be.
