Stephen Moore - Marvin
Stephen Moore
Stephen Moore was a founder member of Douglas Adams' radio series Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. He played Marvin, a mouse, God, and a whale among sundry other roles thrust upon him at random and usually during the last five minutes of recording time. He also recorded solo all the Hitchhiker books for EMI "Listen For Pleasure", as well as two Long Playing Records (shows you how long ago it was), and two Marvin Singles (known as the Marvin Double-B singles), the first of which rocketed to No 51 in the hit parade. ("Missed out from appearing on Top of the Pops by one place, which proves the existence of God" - Marvin).

Stephen's recent appearances on TV include Foyle's War, Trial And Retribution, Ready When You Are Mr McGill, and New Tricks. Past triumphs include Middlemarch, Harry Enfield and Chums, Brideshead Revisited, The Student Prince, The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole, The Growing Pains of Adrian Mole, Silent Witness, The Lenny Henry Show, Love on a Branch Line, Tales from Hollywood, The Beat Goes On, Three Men in a Boat, and Mersey Beat.

There have been numerous stage appearances, notably for The Royal National Theatre and The Royal Shakespeare Company. Stephen has also appeared in the West End many times and is about to start rehearsals for Festen, which will open at the Lyric, Shaftesbury Avenue in September 2004.

Films include Under Suspicion, Brassed Off, Clockwise, Diversion, Claim, The White Bus, A Bridge Too Far ("otherwise known as a repeat too far" - Marvin).

A detailed account of Stephen's work is available on his website.
