Can I get MP3 downloads of Radio 4 programmes?
Some programmes are available for 7 days after transmission as part of the download trial. For rights reasons it is not possible to obtain any other programmes as MP3s, nor are MP3s available beyond the 7 day period. Radio 4 is available on 198 LW across the UK. It can also be heard on FM. Find out the optimum FM frequency for listening in your area.
How do I listen to Radio 4 on DAB digital radio?
You need a new radio to receive DAB digital radio. Your existing set will not decode digital signals unless it carries the DAB logo (standing for Digital Audio Broadcasting). Analogue sets (i.e. FM/AM) often have a digital display or tuner but this isn't the same and doesn't mean they can receive DAB digital radio. DAB digital radio sets are available through hi-fi and car audio dealers, high street retailers and department stores and online retailers. For more information see our digital radio website.

How do I listen to Radio 4 on Freeview?
All the BBC's national radio services are available on Freeview digital television through an aerial.
Radio 4 FM is on Freeview: EPG No. 704 (Radio 4 LW is not available on Freeview at present).

All the BBC's national radio services are available via digital satellite television.
Radio 4 FM is Sky EPG no. 854 and Radio 4 LW is Sky EPG no. 893.
How do I listen to Radio 4 on cable TV?
The service is available in some areas depending on your service provider.
Presently NTL (channel 862 or 404) and Telewest (channel 904) broadcast Radio 4 FM through their digital cable network (Radio 4 LW is not presently broadcast on digital cable).
How do I listen to Radio 4 on the web?
To listen to audio, or watch moving pictures (video), you need a connection to the Internet, a PC or Mac and speakers which are turned on!
You will also need a program on your PC called RealOne Player (the new name for RealPlayer). This is a program which is available for FREE from RealNetworks. Find out how to download RealOne Player here .

Why is the audio quality less good over the web?

Why can't I use Windows Media Player to listen to Radio 4 on the web?
It is a service we are keen to offer to listeners, and it is something which the BBC has been considering. In fact the new digital stations, including BBC 7 offer audio in Windows Media Player as well as RealOne Player. However, for the immediate future, Radio 4 audio is only available using RealOne Player.
