If I have an idea for a Radio 4 programme, how do I find out more about the Commissioning Process?

Generally, if it is an idea for an existing programme (such as Woman's Hour) you can email or write to the programme. If it is an idea for a new programme (e.g. comedy or drama), you can consult the BBC Commissioning Guidelines.

I have a book/ exhibition/ concert/ film coming out that I would like Radio 4 to review

You can email theplanningunit@bbc.co.uk - this is the research office address and any new books, films, exhibitions, etc they know about will be added to our planning lists. You can also send review copies to:

The Planning Unit
Room 7028
Broadcasting House
London
W1A 1AA

However we get a lot of emails of this nature and Radio 4 is not really an outlet for unpublished/undiscovered writers/ musicians. Nor do many Radio 4 programmes ever review new books/ music.

I have a script that I would like to submit to Radio 4

If you have a play you would like to submit you can visit the BBC Writers Room web site.

If you have a story or poetry you would like to submit you can send it to:

BBC Readings Unit,
Rm 807,
South East Wing,
BBC Bush House,
The Aldwych,
London,
WC2B 4PA

I have some music that I would like to submit to Radio 4

If you would like to submit some music you can visit the BBC Introducing web site.
