Maurice works part time at the business units at Sawyer's Farm making sausages for Tom Archer. He makes this up to a full-time income with work in a supermarket and butchers the occasional venison carcass for Home Farm.

Maurice was relieved to be able to give up his failing butcher's shop in Felpersham to work for Tom. It was there that Eddie Grundy found Maurice, when seeking a witness to mitigate the illegal meat case against him. Maurice was a bitter man and it wasn't until Ed interceded for his father that he agreed to give evidence.
