St Stephen's Church
Established 1281.
2008 saw some changes in the management of Ambridge's fine parish church, whose history can be traced back to Saxon times. Long serving churchwardens Shula Hebden Lloyd and Bert Fry were replaced by Christine Barford and Neil Carter, who is also captain of the bell-ringers. Bert's replacement was routine but Shula left under a cloud over the controversial marriage of vicar Alan and Usha Franks.
The death in 2010 of stalwart organist Phil Archer provided an opportunity for his occasional deputy Valda to take her place at the organ stool. She does her best, bless her.
