What is Say What You Want to Hear?

Say What You Want To Hear.

Say What You Want to Hear was a two-part radio drama, written by Tim Wright, broadcast on 9 February and 9 March 2010.

The plays tell the story of two dotcom entrepreneurs, Erik (Stephen Tompkinson) and Mike (Ewan Bailey), who set up a website – Say What You Want to Hear – for people to have their secret thoughts (swywths) recorded. We follow their adventures as they pursue love, fortune and football stars across Europe.

The audience was invited to submit their own swywths – on Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, You Tube and the Radio 4 web site. These thoughts were recorded by some well-known Radio 4 voices and some of them were incorporated into the two plays.

Unfortunately, due to rights reasons, the plays are no longer available but you can hear the audience's secret thoughts below ...

What is a Swywth?

Swywths are those voices inside your head telling you what you want to hear. We collected the secret thoughts of Radio 4 listeners and recorded them. You can listen to a collection of your thoughts online.

Some of these swywths will appear in Say What You Want to Hear: The Endgame.

How it works

Do you have things you wished people had said to you in the past?

1. You sent in the things that hadn't been said.

2. We recorded people reading them out.

3. We published the things you want to hear.
