EILEEN SILLS Eileen Sills is the Chief Nurse of Guy's & St Thomas' Hospital. There is a new exhibition at the Florence Nightingale Museum, exploring the life and experiences of nurses, doctors and patients at St Thomas's. ISHMAEL BEAH Ishmael Beah was a boy soldier in Sierra Leone. Between the ages of 13 and 15 he fought on the side of government forces in the civil war there. He was eventually removed from the war by Unicef and now lives in New York where he began to talk to human rights groups and conferences about the plight of children caught up in conflict. A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Soldier is published by Fourth Estate.
MIKE OLDFIELD Mike Oldfield is the musician, probably best known for his album Tubular Bells which spent 250 weeks in the album charts. It went on to become a major hit around the world, and became the soundtrack for the horror film The Exorcist. His memoir, Changeling, is published by Virgin Books.
AMANDA BARRETT Amanda Barrett is a wildlife filmmaker. She and her partner Owen Newman spent nine months filming the lions that inhabit the Namib Desert, the first time in fact that these lions have ever been caught on camera. Desert Lions, part of The Natural World series will be on BBC2 on 30th May at 9pm.
