On Midweek this week:-
GEORGY EVANS
When Georgy was a small child she lost the lower part of her leg in a terrible accident. She's now a successful lawyer and is one of eleven disabled people who have trekked across Africa for the BBC2 series Beyond Boundaries: The African Challenge.
BRENDA BLETHYN
Brenda Blethyn was the youngest of nine children. After working as a secretary for British Rail, she enrolled at Guildford Drama School. And so her career as an actress began - her most famous role being that of Cynthia Purley in Mike Leigh's Secrets and Lies. Her memoir Mixed Fancies is published by Simon and Schuster.
HUNTER DAVIES
Hunter Davies has made a name for himself with his biographical subjects which range from the Beatles – at the height of their fame – to footballer Paul Gascoigne. His autobiography The Beatles Football and me: a memoir is published by Headline.
CHARLES JONES
Chas Jones is involved in a project to commemorate the Battle of Fulford, which took place just before the 1066 clash at Hastings, but few have heard of it. To remedy this, a group was formed to produce a 5-meter long preface to the iconic Bayeux Tapestry, a copy of which will be unveiled this weekend during the English Heritage commemorations at Battle Abbey. A book by Charles The Forgotten Battle of 1066 Fulford is published by Tempus.
