VICTOR RYAN ROBERTSON
Victor Ryan Robertson was a gifted tennis player. He received a scholarship to college and was set for a career on the professional circuit. But he was side-tracked by music, dropped out of college and joined a rock band. While having voice lessons, his coach recommended he try opera and he took to it straightaway. He is now a Tenor and has sung in operas including La Traviata.
He is starring as Rodolfo in La Boheme at the Royal Albert Hall.

TONY BENN
Tony Benn retired from Parliament in 2001 as MP for Chesterfield. He was the longest-serving Labour MP in the party's history, joining in 1942 and becoming an MP in 1950.
He is giving a talk Utopias and the Welfare State on Wednesday 22 February at 7pm, at Royal Geographical Society, 1 Kensington Gore, London SW7 2AR.

JONATHAN KAPLAN
Jonathan Kaplan is a South African born surgeon. In a remarkable career he has travelled the world, from Israel to Angola and Baghdad, experiencing riots, tropical fevers and political upheaval. In Angola he took charge of a combat zone hospital, the only surgeon for 160,000 civilians. As a volunteer surgeon in Baghdad he treated casualties amid gunfights for control of hospitals and gangs of AK-47 wielding looters stripping pharmacies.
His book Contact Wounds - A War Surgeon's Education, is published by Picador, at £17.99.
He will be speaking at Jewish Book Week on Saturday 4 March.
SHELLEY KING
Shelley King is an actress. Her career began in the BBC series Angels in the 1970s. She has since appeared in productions including: Tandoori Nights and Bombay Dreams.
She is currently playing a 'middle aged over sexed matriarch' in Paper Thin, a dark dark comedy about sham marriages. It is currently at the Watermans Theatre, Brentford and will tour London and Birmingham.
