What happens to all the venison produced when deer are culled in Britain? The wild deer population in the UK is thought to be reaching two million, so the shooting season has been extended and more meat is going to be available.

Sheila Dillon discovers that much of our wild venison is being exported overseas. At the same time, we are importing farmed venison from New Zealand.

In the programme, reporter Dominic Prince goes hunting with professional deer stalker Stuart Venables, around Cranborne Chase in Dorset, to watch the local cull in action. Sheila then looks at how hundreds of thousands of deer carcases end up in the food supply chain.
