This week Sheila Dillon travels to Suffolk to “eat the view”; exploring the relationship between local food and the landscape.
How can we re-establish the link between the food we buy and the countryside we value?
Sheila visits Angus Mcfadzen at the Museum of East Anglian Life in Stowmarket, which is trying to provide a blueprint for farmers with its traditional management of land and Suffolk rare breeds; she also travels to the apple triangle to meet David Upson, a grower who juices only his own fruit.
She samples Red Poll beef with chef Ian Howell in Southwold, while local campaigner Caroline Cranbrook and Nick Saltmarsh from East Anglia Food Links debate the difficulties of getting us back to Eating the View.
