Sheila Dillon and Aldo Zilli
Sheila Dillon discusses arthritis and diet.
This week, The Food Programme looks at the role of diet in some forms of arthritis. Often a controversial field in the past, the place of nutrition in diseases such as arthritis has been understood more fully by the development of nutritional biochemistry and immunology.

Scientific data on antioxidants and flavonoids is now lifting nutrition out of the realm of anecdotal uncertainty and in to the province of credible science.

Sheila talks to Dr. Gail Darlington, Senior Specialist in Rheumatology and Lead Clinician for Research at the Epsom and St. Helier University Hospitals Trust.

Ingrid Holmes talks about developing rheumatoid arthritis at 32 and how through a change in diet is now pain free.

Sheila is joined in the studio by Dr. Margaret Rayman, Reader in Nutritional Medicine at the University of Surrey who has co-written a book with Alison Callaghan called Nutrition and Arthritis to be published in July.

Dr John Tarlton of Bristol University talks about his research on osteo-arthritis.

Sheila is also joined in the studio by Chef Aldo Zilli and Dr Peter Fisher, Consultant Rheumatologist at the Royal London Homeopathic Hospital and also the author of the Arthritis Research Campaign's booklet on diet and arthritis.
