Documenting travel


On this week's programme Sandi Toksvig and her guests look at the many ways that we document travel from taking photographs to writing travel diaries.

Writer Christopher de Bellaigue talks about his life in Iran.
 
Guests:
Lisa Le Feuvre, Programme Organiser, Photographers' Gallery & freelance curator
Lisa works at The Photographers' Gallery and teaches at Birkbeck College . She is a contributor to a number of international contemporary art journals, and is a freelance curator. She has curated the current exhibition "Mediterranean: between Utopia and Reality" which comprises images of the Mediterranean from the 1850s to the present day. 

Frances Linzee Gordon, Travel writer and photographer
Frances wrote her first travel article following a school scholarship to Venice at age 17. Since then, she has travelled to more than 50 countries, and has contributed travel articles, books, and photos to a variety of international publications. She also lectures and interviews on travel and tourism around the world.

Christopher de Bellaigue, Journalist and writer
Christopher was born in London and has spent the past decade in the Middle East and South Asia. He writes forThe Economist, New York Review of Books, Granta  and The New Yorker.   He moved to Iran 4 years ago and currently lives in Tehran.  His new book In The Rose Garden of the Martyrs"  is published by Harper Collins ISBN 0-00-711393-5.
