An image of Michael Fenton Stevens as Michael Wenton-Weakes.

Michael Wenton-Weakes is the Editor of the little-read, barely influential and only occasionally-appearing arts magazine Fathom, where behind his back he is nicknamed "Michael Wednesday-Week," after his promises for when the next issue of his magazine will be ready.

The spoilt son of wealthy parents who have previously bank-rolled his expensive attempts to be a cultural grandee his mother has recently sold Fathom to thrusting computer mogul Gordon Way after his indulgent father's accidental death.

While to others Michael may seem to have a largely apathetic and yielding character, the loss of Fathom bothers him much more deeply than anyone can guess.
