Despite being a long-established classical actor Jim Carter has never appeared in either The Bill or Casualty, never mind Eastenders.

Despite this he has, however, managed to make it to the big screen in films such as Shakespeare in Love, Richard III, and The Madness of King George, while TV work includes a number of Dennis Potter adaptations including The Singing Detective and Lipstick on Your Collar.

Jim is married to actress Imelda Staunton, with whom he has a daughter.
