In January the BBC will be celebrating Radio 4’s own comedy output and exploring the part it plays in developing and sustaining new comedic talent (as well as making its listeners laugh out loud).
On the 18th January (starting at 8.00pm – put it in your diaries now) Radio 4 will broadcast a two-hour special with a bit of archive, some analysis, plenty of laughs and a chance to hear again a pilot of one of the shows that successfully made the moved from Radio 4 over to television and into the nation’s consciousness and affections.
Concentrating on the more modern comedy (shows which have been developed in the 1990’s and beyond), Steve Punt will be joined by a panel of comedians and professionals to share their favourite radio comedy moments, compare the merits of radio and television comedy and to lift the curtains on how the comedy industry of today works behind the scenes.
