Next week at the same time:

Struggling to adapt to life in a Cotswold village after a lifetime spent in Public Relations, Agatha Raisin finds that trouble constantly seeks her out. So much for the quiet life!

Penelope Keith stars as "Agatha Raisin" in this series of comedy dramatisations by David Semple of the novels of the same name by M.C. Beaton (who also wrote the original "Hamish Macbeth" novels). This is a series of murder mysteries, set against the backdrop of Cotswold village life and the clash between native villagers and the 'incomers', epitomised by Agatha, primarily Londoners, who arrive ostensibly for a quiet life, but can't stop competing, an urge now directed into winning the jam-making contests, increasing the value of their properties and snaring one of the few desirable men!

As well as her constant desire to interfere in matters that should be left to the local police, even if they do seem to have more than their fair share of murders to contend with, 'Agatha' begins to develop a close relationship with one of her neighbours, a bookish, opera-loving, retired Army man, played by Malcolm Sinclair. Having made the mistake of moving in next door to 'Agatha', his life will never be the same again. Not only is he forced into helping 'Agatha' solve the murders, mainly to protect her from herself, he begins to find himself increasingly drawn to the extraordinary woman who seems to have taken over his previously well-organised, meticulously run life.
