This programme follows three families on the final leg of their tortuous and demanding journey to adopt an orphan from China.
It follows them through the stages of waiting to hear about the baby they have been matched with, preparing to travel, making their life-changing trip, and returning to the UK. Whilst in China, the families try to find out what they can about their daughters' pasts, and why baby girls are abandoned.
When they return home, they go to great lengths to avert potential problems that could arise from the infant's troubled past. Two months after getting back to the UK, one family recieves the dramatic news that their daughter has an identical twin.
