Today's Poetry Please has a sensual feel, as many of the poems use as imagery the sea, trees and autumn fruits. The theme of summer food leads to a delightfully delicate piece about an end-of-school picnic which hints at grown-up pleasures to come. Phyllida Nash, Jenny Coverack, Tom Lawrence and Peter Marinker are the readers.

Coming Up
Sunday 26th August For the last in this series Roger has chosen a selection of requests which reflect some of the main pre-occupations with the end of the summer: enjoying the garden, working the land, and preparing for the inevitable return to school. He's also looking at a collection of art work drawn especially for him by a class of pupils in primary school who were inspired by one of his own poems - though less so, he finds, by one of his photographs.
