When the Slovakian town of Medzilaborce discovered that the parents of the artist Andy Warhol had been born near there – they decided to open an
Andy Warhol Musuem
and this week they've announced that nine houses and four bus-stops will be decorated in Warholian style.
Front Row wondered if Slovakia’s Warhol Museum is the most tenuous claim of a local connection but research showed that it isn’t.
A house in Benton, Illinois – where George Harrison slept for one night before he became famous – is now the
Hard Day’s Nite Bed & Breakfast and Beatles Museum
.
A town in Hungary also has a museum commemorating two short visits by Beethoven.
If you know of any museums which made a little local connection go a long way, let us know!
