PAUL AUSTER
John Wilson talks to the American novelist Paul Auster about his latest novel Oracle Night which has echoes of earlier work including The New York Trilogy and Leviathan.
Once again, coincidence and the unpredictability of life are central themes and this, Auster reveals, all goes back to an experience he had aged 14 when he narrowly escaped death and was forced to confront the fragility of his own life.
Paul Auster on the creative spark, why he’s obsessed with stationery and being thought cleverer than he is.
Oracle Night is published by Faber on February 20.
