A LOVE SUPREME
Although jazz saxophonist John Coltrane died 35 years ago, he remains highly influential and one of his best-loved albums A Love Supreme is being reissued next week in a new edition, complete with rare out-takes. Courtney Pine, Denys Baptiste and Ashley Kahn explain the album's enduring appeal.

Ashley Kahn’s book A Love Supreme is published by Granta. The new edition of the album is on the Impulse label. Courtney Pine’s Tribute to Coltrane concerts are at the Barbican, London on November 22 (as part of the London Jazz Festival), and at the Queen’s Hall Edinburgh on November 29.
