When the final performances of Yazimina Reza’s long-running play ‘Art’ were announced, headlines and camera-crews followed – not least because the final cast is comprised of the stars of the dark TV comedy ‘The League of Gentlemen’. Just about the only thing that hasn’t changed in the interpretation of the play is the fact that it’s a three-hander. The playwright Joe Penhall – author of ‘Blue/Orange’ – thinks that might be significant.

Francine Stock interviews poet and novelist Dannie Abse about his most recent novel Dr Simmonds and Dr Glas which draws on Dr Glas, a novel by the Swedish journalist and writer Hjalmar Soderberg first published in 1905 which has just been republished.
