KIM HOWELLS
The derogatory note that Culture Minister Kim Howells pinned to the comment board at the Turner Prize exhibition, was today endorsed by Downing Street. Kim Howells attended art school and John Wilson considers that qualification.

THE CONVERSATIONS
During the filming of The English Patient, Michael Ondaatje was fascinated with the work of film editor, Walter Murch. The Conversations grew out of discussions between the two men and is about the craft of filmmaking. Michael Ondaatje and Walter Murch talk to Francine Stock.

SINGER-SONGWRITERS
A fifth album for Meshell Ndegeocello, a woman with seven Grammy nominations and mighty respect within the music business, completes a trio of new CDs from singer-songwriters. The others being India Arie and Tracy Chapman. The CDs are reviewed by Gary Mulholland, music critic for TimeOut and author of a book about singles called This Is Uncool.
