TOM CLANCY
In a new film, The Sum Of All Fears, Morgan Freeman is the head of the CIA and Ben Affleck plays Tom Clancy hero, Jack Ryan. But as reader's of Clancy's books know, Ryan has already become President. The Sum Of All Fears features an earlier episode in Ryan's career as does Clancy's new novel, Red Rabbit. Guardian columnist, Peter Preston, discusses the Clancy oeuvre.

How far is it possible to go when pushing a product? The first interactive advert is about to be screened on digital television in Britain. It allows TV viewers to influence the stotyline with their handsets during an advert for the charity the Depaul Trust. Barry Delaney discusses this development.

A film is in production based on a book called Dernier Mitterand which decribed the final days of the former president as he died from prostate cancer. Friends and family are now trying to prevent the film. Mark Lawson is joined by journalist Christian Mallard of the France 3 television station to discuss the controversy.
