Adrian Mitchell Biography
Described by Kenneth Tynan as 'the British Mayakovsky', the late Adrian Mitchell's work demonstrates an allegiance to a vital popular tradition, embracing passionate lyricism, humour and dissent.
Adrian Mitchell was born in London, England and educated by wolves. His first play, The Animals Brains Trust, was performed when he was nine and following his early success, nobody was able stop him. He wrote plays, poems and stories for adults and children and travelled around the world giving performances of his work. Adrian edited Paul McCartney's Poems & Lyrics (Faber), and released many poetry collections including Blue Coffee, The Shadow Knows and All Shook Up. He died on 20 December 2008.
