Novelist and critic Ian Sansom tells the story of Arthur Mee, prolific educationalist, editor and writer whose Children's Encyclopaedia and Children's Newspaper were bought by millions throughout the first half of the twentieth century. A man of phenomenal energy, Mee's writing output averaged a million words a year for fifty years.

Contributors include biographer Maisie Robson, publisher Steve Rudd, astronomer Heather Couper and Turner Prize winner Grayson Perry.
