Outwardly, Shula - Phil and Jill Archer's elder daughter and Kenton's twin - is the pinnacle of respectability: qualified chartered surveyor now running her own stables and riding school, a regular churchgoer, bellringer and church-warden. But a moment of madness with a former Ambridge GP Richard Locke estranged her from Richard's partner Usha Gupta and very nearly lost Shula her now-husband Alistair. (Shula's first husband Mark was killed in a car crash in 1994, never knowing that after years of disappointment and treatment for infertility Shula was finally pregnant with Daniel.) But since the affair Shula has devoted herself to being a good wife, mother and member of the community - to the point where arguably she could do with a bit of excitement again.
