Despite their middle age, Peggy still keeps a maternal eye on her children, Jennifer Aldridge, Lilian Bellamy and Tony Archer.Originally from London's East End, she is the widow of Phil Archer's elder brother Jack, with whom she ran The Bull for many years. With a singular lack of imagination she married another Jack - Woolley - in 1991. Although perhaps it's not surprising, given that her mother married two men named Perkins.
Of a conservative bent in many ways, Peggy is one of the wealthiest women in the village. But, having lost her first husband to alcoholism, she's a living example that money can't buy happiness, forced to cope stoically with her second Jack's decline due to Alzheimer's disease.
