Oliver's previous marriage was a traditional one. He ran a large farm (in the north of the county) and Jane was the homemaker, nurturing their son, two daughters and a growing frustration. Following their divorce, Oliver bought Grange Farm with 50 acres, intending to do a bit of hobby farming. As joint master of the South Borsetshire, he met Caroline Pemberton - and they fell in love.
They married in 2006, having along the way become joint owners of Grey Gables hotel. In the same year, Oliver's industry-defying plan to set up a small dairy herd supplying Mike Tucker's milk round was severely hampered by the disappearance of key employee Ed Grundy - and by Ed's reappearance as a case more suitable for treatment by the Priory than by a gentleman farmer.
