It's easy to blame Jack 'Jazzer' McCreary for some of Ed Grundy's wilder excesses. So let's do that. Clarrie certainly does. Joyriding, housebreaking and cannabis growing are just a few of the offences to be taken into consideration. However, Jazzer does serve as an Awful Warning about the misuse of drugs - specifically ketamine, which left him a little clumsy and with memory problems. It also put paid to hopes of rock success in the now-defunct band Dross, with Ed, Fallon Rogers and Jazzer's elder brother Stuart. Jazzer works part-time looking after Tom Archer's pigs at Home Farm and delivering milk for Mike Tucker. You really don't want to know what he gets up to the rest of the time.
