In 2005, Debbie took a job running a farm in Hungary for a consortium involving her step-father Brian Aldridge. Alice in particular missed her elder sister, who is the daughter of Jennifer Aldridge and her first husband Roger Travers-Macy. It was the fourth time Debbie had left home. She cut short her French studies at Exeter University because of an affair with lecturer Simon Gerrard, who later pursued and married her. But he turned out as much lecher as lecturer and the marriage collapsed in 2002. Six months later, unable to accept Brian's own extra-marital affair, bruised Debbie fled Home Farm for a job in France. Her return in 2004 generated continued friction with half-brother Adam Macy, as Brian played power games with the siblings. As a human boomerang, poor Debbie has yet to find lasting happiness.
