Alan' daughter is as much as a firebrand as her dad, and can get into scrapes when driven by her highly developed sense of justice. When Alan feels overwhelmed, he sometimes calls on the restraining influence of Amy's grandmother Mabel, originally from Jamaica but a long-term resident of Bradford. Coming to the countryside was a joy for Amy, primarily because she loves riding. She hit it off very quickly with Alice Aldridge, who is of the same age and similarly nutty about horses. In September 2005 both girls started A level studies at Borchester College, Amy with the eventual intention of becoming a midwife.
