Phil Archer
played by Norman Painting
Description
Respected in all quarters, ex JP and NFU chair Phil is everyone's idea of a pragmatic English farmer. The Brookfield patriarch has seen the family through many a crisis with the minimum of fuss, though the occasions when he has made his opinions known have been memorable. He hated the squabble over the inheritance of the farm at Lily and Freddie's christening, and he has crossed swords with Ruth over farm policy and the raising of his grandchildren. These days however he enjoys a mostly quiet retirement, playing the church organ and photographing the heavens.
