Wayne Tucson
13 August 2009
Fallon is less than pleased at the re-entry of her father Wayne Tucson into her life. And when you read this potted history, you may understand why.
Sion Probert (Wayne Tucson)
We first heard of Wayne in 1985 when he agreed to perform for free at a playgroup supper, replacing Eddie Grundy who was asking too high a fee. Wayne was engaged to Eddie's old flame, fellow musician Jolene Rogers (now Perks).
Wayne was a singer and guitarist, although at that time he had a day job in a bakery. It's quite conceivable that "Tucson" is a stage name, just as the once Doreen Rogers decided she'd have greater success as "Jolene".
Jolene was pregnant with Fallon and the couple were soon to move into one of the new starter homes on the "Chestnuts" estate in Borchester. But the marriage was short-lived. When Eddie tracked down Jolene to invite her to his 40th birthday party in 1991 she had split up with Wayne and had been living with a bass player in Huddersfield.
Wayne has never been much of a father to Fallon. Despite the occasional present, his appearances in her life have been rare, and she has never been able to rely on him.
Jolene eventually moved back to Borsetshire and formed a relationship (initially adulterous) with Sid Perks. Resistant to moving to The Bull, Fallon spent a short time living with Wayne and his then girlfriend. Although Wayne treated Fallon to some new clothes - and a tattoo - he told Fallon that she couldn't stay with him permanently. Fallon was forced to move into the pub with Jolene and Sid.
In 2002, when Sid and Jolene were on honeymoon, Fallon was due to stay with Wayne but his band got a last minute booking touring the South coast, supporting a band that was big in the 1960s. Although he said that Fallon could stay with his girlfriend, they didn't get on that well, so Fallon chose to come back to The Bull.
In 2006, Fallon was dumbstruck when Wayne gave her a camper van as a 21st birthday present. But this expansive gift couldn't make up for the years of neglect.
