Sally Lloyd The latest in our occasional series, in which we shine the spotlight on the people who make the daily series.
Sally Lloyd

What part do you play in village life?
As a broadcast assistant, I liaise with the production team, the press office, the writers, the cast, their agents and of course the listeners. I suppose like Lynda Snell I'm determined to know about and be involved in everything that's going on!

How did you end up in Ambridge?
After years working for a Japanese bank I decided to take a break from full-time employment and to do a bit of temping. My very first assignment was at Pebble Mill working in The Archers office. That was in June 1998 and nine years later I'm still here. Nobody seems to have realised my assignment was only supposed to be for a week!!

What do you like best about your job?
The people I work with.

Who is your favourite character?
Lynda Snell

Why?
Because she reminds me of me - a proper busybody but with good intentions.
What character would you most like to play?
Lynda Snell, of course.

Why?
Because I wouldn't have to act.

What's been your favourite storyline in the archers?
I think it has to be Kate giving birth to Phoebe at Glastonbury. That happened during my first few weeks in the job, and as somebody who'd never listened to the Archers, I suddenly found myself wrapped up in the wonder of hearing a fictional birth being cheered by 100,000 festival goers. It was the start of my love for the programme.

What's been you most memorable moment?
Being with Mary Wimbush (Julia Pargetter ) on the night she died. (Mary died as she was leaving the studio after recording an episode of The Archers)

What would you most like to see in Ambridge?
A football team - cricket's not really my cup of tea.

If you weren't a Broadcast Assistant on the Archers, what would you be doing?
Organising the village pantomime.

And finally - what are you most proud of?
My runner beans.
