Lisa Milne, soprano

Lisa Milne studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.

She made her professional opera début with Scottish Opera where her roles have included Adele ('Die Fledermaus'), Adina ('L'Elisir d'Amore'), four great Mozart roles (Zerlina, Susanna, Ilia, Despina) and, most recently, the title role in 'Semele'. She has also appeared with English National Opera (Alcina, Ännchen, Anne Trulove), Welsh National Opera (Servilia), Glyndebourne (Rodelinda, Marzelline, Micaëla, Pamina), Stuttgart Opera (Gretel), Royal Danish Opera (Ilia) and Dallas Opera (Marzelline).

Earlier this season, she took part in a triumphant tour to Japan, singing Marzelline in the Salzburg Festival production of 'Fidelio', conducted by Sir Simon Rattle. She has recently returned from New York where she made an acclaimed debut at the Metropolitan Opera, singing Pamina.

Last season, she made her New York concert debut singing the Mozart Requiem as part of the Lincoln Center's Mostly Mozart Festival. Other concert highlights include 'Ariadne auf Naxos' with the London Symphony Orchestra and the world premiere of Simon Holt's 'Sunrise Yellow Noise' with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, both conducted by Sir Simon Rattle.

She is a renowned recitalist and is a regular guest at London's Wigmore Hall and the Edinburgh Festival. Her recent recording projects include a disc of French song as part of the BBC Voices series and filming the role of The Governess in 'The Turn of the Screw' for BBC TV.
