Free Thinking - Festival of Ideas for the Future

Saturday 4 November 2006 21:30-22:15 (Radio 3)

Ian McMillan presents a special live edition of the weekly magazine about language from BBC3's Free Thinking Festival in Liverpool.

Duration:

45 minutes

Playlist

This week Ian McMillan and his Verberati have thrown caution to the winds - shed their shackles - and dropped anchor in Liverpool - to take their natural place at the nerve centre of Radio 3's Free thinking Festival. You can hear Ian and his guests.the Merseyside griot, Levi Tafari, the Stockport miniaturist, David Gaffney, the song writer and playwright, Lizzie Nunnery and Eartoonist extraordinaire, Peter Blegvad, live and unplugged - at the Foundation for Art and Creative Technology. As you might expect from such a dialectically inclined show there'll be a rare old ding dong about big ideas - such as face transplants, our future as cyborgs and sex in the age of mechanical reproduction - as well as the more conventional delight in words and their power to move us and make us laugh.
