Ian McMillan looks at the history and evolution of eulogies and elegies, ahead of Remembrance Sunday. He's joined by writer Angela Huth who has just edited a collection of eulogies, and David Kennedy who writes elegies and researches their history. Ian also hears about the traditions of eulogy and elegy in Arabic and Islamic literature, in the week that the Arab world mourns the death of the Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.
There's also chance to take a literary quiz set by poet and puzzle master Roddy Lumsden, and to hear from the acclaimed New Zealand poet Elizabeth Smither. Plus, the author Patrick Ness probes the complex relationship between language and music.
