For six weeks from Monday 10 September 2007 over on Radio 4, 3.45 - 4.00pm on weekday afternoons, James Naughtie continues his exploration of the history of 1000 years of classical music in its historical context.

At 4pm Radio 3 follows up each edition of The Making of Music with an hour of music related to that edition.

This second series of The Making of Music continues the story from the height of Romanticism and Nationalism in the mid-nineteenth century through to the present-day.

Playlists for The Making of Music on Radio 3 will be published immediately after the broadcast of each programme.
