![]() Monday 10th October 9:30-10:15 pm Radio 3 Please note that this play is no longer available to listen to online. Radio 3 broadcast the world premiere of Voices, Harold Pinter's new dramatic work for radio, on the playwright's 75th birthday - Monday 10th October (at 9.30pm). Voices is a collaboration between Pinter and composer James Clarke, specially commissioned by Radio 3, and includes Roger Lloyd-Pack, Douglas Hodge, Andy de la Tour, Indira Varma and Harold Pinter himself in the cast. Please note that the play contains some strong language. Pinter's late, dark political plays, in which man's humanity and inhumanity is starkly demonstrated, form the textual core of the piece. The language of torturers and the tortured is set to a haunting radiophonic score by Clarke - richly layered music in which symphony orchestra and solo voice, silences, ensembles and an Azeri singer respond to the performances of actors who have previously performed the Pinter scenes in the theatre. Musical contributions come from Apartment House, with soprano Eileen Aargaard, directed by Anton Lukoszevieze; from the Prometheus Ensemble, with soprano Rolande van der Paal, conducted by Etienne Siebens; the BBC Symphony Orchestra conducted by Martyn Brabbins and David Porcelijn; and a recording from the Azeri singer Fatma Mehralieva. There will be a discussion following the broadcast. Voices: Harry Burton, Anastasia Hille, Andy de la Tour, Douglas Hodge, Gabrielle Hamilton, Roger Lloyd-Pack, Gawn Grainger, Harold Pinter, Indira Varma. |
