![]() ![]() BROKEN + BLUE A national search for new music drama BBC Radio 3 and BBC writersroom are looking for original, entertaining and diverse music dramas for radio. Radio 3's first writers' competition, Broken and Blue is an ambitious project for writers who would like to extend their body of work into this under-explored area. This is about rethinking the role of music and song in radio drama. Recent Radio 3 dramas The Loneliest Road by Gregory Whitehead [Sony Gold winner 2003] and The Don by Jeff Young are examples of plays that use music as an integral part of the narrative. The proposed dramas can be up to ninety minutes long. Please be as inventive as you like in the way you propose working with music. Your proposal, script, CV and cover letter must be legibly typed. Your proposal should be no more than 2 sides of A4, your script no more than 20 pages long. Your submission must arrive by the deadline, 1 December 2004. We cannot accept submissions by fax or email. The judges' decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. Shortlisted candidates may be asked to meet the judging panel for an informal interview. All rights in material submitted will continue to belong to you, and if the BBC wishes to use it (other than for purposes of judging the award), you will be offered a contract or commission in accordance with the BBC's standard practices. The winner(s) agree(s) by accepting the award not to take ideas developed through the scheme to any third party without having first given the BBC the opportunity to commission it.
