Another chance to hear last Monday's lunchtime Proms Chamber concert given at Cadogan Hall, London, and presented by Sara-Mohr Pietsch. Canadian violinist James Ehnes and his regular duo partner pianist Eduard Laurel perform a programme including an exciting new work and Elgar's profound Sonata, a work written towards the end of the First World War at Elgar's country retreat in Suffolk - music that is both valedictory and forward-looking.

The Proms devotes a whole day to all things brass, in what promises to be one of the most joyous events of the season. The first concert ranges widely across the brass world: from Uzbek trumpeters and two of the most famous brass bands from the north of England, to early music sagbutts and cornets and a specially commissioned fanfare from Judith Bingham.

Brass Day - Schumann, Bingham and Gruber
Presented by Petroc Trelawny, live from the Royal Albert Hall, London.
The second of today's Proms dedicated to the brass section opens with a second realisation of Judith Bingham's fanfare, followed by a rare outing for Schumann's virtuosic piece for horns and orchestra and HK Gruber's 1999 Proms commission that spotlights the trumpets (and cow horn).

Lisa Walker is a classically trained musician who has taken her music out onto Pacific waters to collaborate with musicians of the underwater world - humpback whales.
Combining Lisa's music with her journey into scientific exploration of the whales' song, the programme dives into the haunting yet magical underwater musical world of the humpback whale.
