Catherine Bott talks to Robert Hollingworth, director of the vocal ensemble of I Fagiolini, who celebrate their 20th anniversary this year. They discuss the development of the group and play music from several of their recordings, including a performance from this year's York Early Music Festival.

The programme includes works by Monteverdi, Pallavicino and Janequin.

Stephen Johnson joins the BBC Philharmonic, conducted by Martyn Brabbins, for a workshop on the great Finnish composer's final orchestral work.

The tone poem Tapiola was inspired by the legends and atmosphere of the great Finnish forests.

Peru

Lucy Duran presents a series recorded on location in Peru.

She explores the music of Ayacucho, the remote Andean region which bore the brunt of the Shining Path terrorist attacks throughout the 1980s and 90s.

The programme features a session by Manuelcha Prado, a performance of the classic El Condor Pasa on the unique Peruvian harp, and songs from Puspo, a singer who already has 17 children at the age of 22.

Idomeneo, King of Crete, has escaped a shipwreck by promising to sacrifice to Neptune the first person he meets. This person, searching for his father, is Idomeneo's son Idamante.

The Last Jew on Crete

In the 1950s Stavroulakis, whose roots are in Crete, arrived on the island after the Jewish community had been destroyed by the Nazis during the Second World War. He recalls how he restored the crumbling Etz Hayyim Synagogue in Hania and has acted as the city's rabbi, despite frequently being the only member of his congregation.
