2005 London Jazz Festival - Sonny Simmons
Jez Nelson interviews Sonny Simmons and presents the second half of Cosmosamatics' first UK performance, which was recorded at the 2005 London Jazz Festival.
Simmons, who co-leads the band with Michael Marcus, was a leading figure of the New York avant-garde jazz scene in the 1960s and collaborated with the likes of Eric Dolphy, Charles Mingus and Elvin Jones.
Cosmosamatics were formed in 2000, with the line-up being completed by bassist Masa Kamaguchi and drummer Clifford Barbaro.
