Sean Rafferty continues the series of concerts from the 2005 Belfast Festival at Queen's on the theme War and Peace.
2/4. The Artur Pizarro Trio, with clarinettist Barnaby Robson, perform the deeply spiritual Quartet for the end of time, composed by Olivier Messiaen for himself and fellow prisoners while they were interned in a German prison camp during the Second World War.
The quartet is coupled with Debussy's Cello Sonata of 1915, a time when the composer was dying of cancer and unable to help with the efforts of the First World War.
