Andrew McGregor plays some of this month's newest releases and looks forward to the next week of the Proms, playing records associated with the repertoire and artists taking part.
There's a feature from the archive with David Nice's 2002 survey of the available recordings of orchestral versions of Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition. And David returns to the studio to update us on more recent recordings of the composer's work.

Lucy Duran introduces a variety of specially-recorded African sessions. Musicians include the greatest living kora player Toumani Diabate, and also from Mali the kamelengoni-playing newcomer Kokanko Sata.

Kit and the Widow's Cocktails
Last February at the Greenwich Theatre, as part of their 'Musical Voices' season, the London Cabaret Convention took place. Compered by Kit and the Widow, the event featured a feast of cabaret talent including Eva Meier, Caroline Nin, Jane Bombane, Barb Jungr, Dilly Keane, Harry, Phil Jeays, and Mike Sanchez.

Towards the end of his life, the great psychologist meditates on the story of Hansel and Gretel. He finds uncomfortable parallels between the fairy tale and the facts of his own life. Did Hansel escape unscathed from the witch? Is recovery from abuse ever possible? Is there such a thing as "Happily Ever After"?
